Ilex End, Eastbourne
This interesting house built in the 50s started life as a double garage with a flat above and served as the chauffeur’s accommodation for the large house next door. In the mid seventies, it was bought by a local architect who extended the property to provide a family home. Peter Grant, manager of Led Zeppelin owned the property for many years and it remained in the family until my client purchased it at the end of 2013. I was given a brief to remodel the house and completely update every element of the infrastructure. The integral double garage became a large kitchen with dining area opening out to the south facing living room. Features include: bespoke staircase balustrade, self contained studio, bespoke entertainment centre, wide board oak flooring, unique en suites, huge south facing terrace, blackened larch cladding, grey aluminium windows and doors, meadow garden.
This property was featured in Channel 4’s ‘Building the Dream’ as the ‘inspirational property’ and featured in ‘Self Build & Design’ magazine.
