Willingdon, East Sussex

This once modest 1930s bungalow is now a light, contemporary space, incorporating the outdoor ‘room’ as a crucial element of the overall use and feel. I bought this property with the aim of remodelling to create a totally different and contemporary space. My brother Steve Swatton of Swatton Landscape designed the tranquil, Zen like outdoor space complete with a calming water feature. This property was featured on Channel 5's 'I Own Britain's Best Home'; in titles including Sunday Times, Sunday Observer and Sunday Telegraph, and was awarded the prestigious 'Sussex Heritage Trust Award' and The Daily Telegraph award for small residential development.

This is a great example of adding significant value by creating an interesting space. It achieved a much higher price than similar size properties in the area.
